Surface preparation
  • Surface should be clean, dry, and free of dirt, rust, oil, soluble salt or water, grease, wax, loose paint, and any other contaminants.
  • We recommend using a minimum of preparation the commercial directive SSPC-SP-2 and SSPC-SP3.
  • The directive SSPC-SP-6 concern the sandblast. It will be appropriate and highly suggested for a better corrosion resistance.
  • The surface temperature must be at least 3°C higher to the temperature of the dew point to avoid condensation.

  • Paint brush
  • Roller
  • Spray

For conventional equipment:

  • Reduce the material with thinner to a viscosity of 20-25 sec FC#4 before applying.
  • Pressure at gun should be approximately 40 pounds/in2 and 18 pounds/in2 at the tank.

For "airless" equipment:

  • -Reduce the material with thinner to a viscosity of 25-35 sec on a FC#4 before applying.
  • The pump pressure with assorted air is 1000 to 1200 pounds/in2
  • Do not leave the paint in the hose, guns and pump. The equipment has to be well cleaned with Sunamco cleaning thinner 100-128.
  • After 24 hours drying time, it is recommended to scuff sand before applying and other coat in order to obtain a better inter-coat adhesion.

Due to the wide variety of substrates, surface preparation methods, application methods, and environment, users should test the complete system for adhesion and compatibility under their conditions prior to starting their production.

N.B. To make adhesion, hardness, flexibility, impact test, or any other test, it is recommended to wait 7 daysat 20ºC (68ºF) and 50% humidity to enable the chemical reaction to be completed. If conditions are not fits outlined, the reaction time could be longer.

Do not apply at temperatures below 10oC or 50o F otherwise drying and the hardness will be affected.
